Metabolic syndrome is the name given for the clustering together of common related medical conditions such as increased blood triglyceride (fat) levels, decrease of ‘good’ (HDL) cholesterol, being overweight around the tummy, increased blood pressure and increased blood sugar levels.

How does the test work?
The Health Check MOT investigation comprises of two simple procedures for blood glucose and cholesterol, each of which requires a finger prick blood drop and will give you a result within a few minutes.
What do the results mean?
Metabolic syndrome increases the risks of diabetes by 5 fold and heart disease by 3 fold. The risks of other diseases such as fatty liver disease, gallstones, polycystic ovary syndrome, sleep disturbances and certain cancers are also associated with being overweight and metabolic syndrome.
